قَالَ فَإِنَّهَا مُحَرَّمَةٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡۛ أَرۡبَعِينَ سَنَةٗۛ يَتِيهُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ فَلَا تَأۡسَ عَلَى ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلۡفَٰسِقِينَ
Rowwad Translation Center
[Allah] said, “Then this land will be forbidden to them for forty years, while they will be straying through the land. Therefore, do not grieve[1] over the rebellious people.”

[1] i.e., Allah consoles Moses (عليه السلام): Do not grieve over the punishment decreed for them, for they deserve it. [cf. al-Tabarī, Ibn Kathīr]
